FAQs

Who can attend Startup@Brown?

All Brown and RISD undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply. A background in computer science, design, engineering, or business is recommended but not required!

Student Startups from other colleges are welcome too. Apply to be one of the 12 student startups here. Applications close Sept. 25 at noon Startups will have special office hours with the startup leaders and venture capitalists attending, attend the workshops, and participate in a student startup panel to share their experiences as student entrepreneurs.

Why Startup@Brown?

As Brown students, while we get a lot of exposure to larger companies, we don’t often hear about the exciting work startups do and the challenges they face. At Startup@Brown, you’ll get the chance to talk in small groups with founders, engineering leads, and venture capitalists from Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Teespring, and more. Come to learn about startups and their stories. Leave with a new perspective and your next summer internship or full-time job.

What will the event be like?

Startup@Brown is a day-long event where you’ll have the chance to interact closely with startup founders, many of them alumni.

The event will start with a fair, introducing you to 15 startups, and then split into small-group conversations and workshops like “What is Product Management” to “Exploring Accelerators.” Meet with engineers and designers, discuss the technical problems they’re trying to solve, and maybe they'll interest you enough for an internship or job :).

How do I apply?

Registrations close on Sunday, Sept. 25 at noon.

Register for Startup@Brown 2016 here!

When will I find out if I'm accepted?

We'd love if everyone could attend, but we usually receive way more interest than the space available. We'll tell you if you have a spot by Sept. 25 at night.
